Prayer Healing and the Kingdom of God

February 19, 2010

How do I pray?
Where is my own healing?
What is the Kingdom of God?
Great questions, right?
If we are called out to help others and realize that we have nothing then we are perfect candidates for God to move. Bill Davis said, “When your desperation factor exceeds your embarrassment factor you are a candidate for a move of God.”  I have to admit that this is so true each day as the realization that Faith is spelled RISK. The more you are willing to go and make a fool of yourself the more God seems to show up for His own purpose. More times than not I find that I just need to show up trust and let God be God.  The late John Wimber heard a similar message that Jack Deere heard from the Lord.  “If you don’t take credit for my healing you won’t have to take the blame when I don’t.” It reminds me of something that Dale Carnegie once said, “Give credit where credit is due.”  Both John and Jack had prayed for thousands of people and many did not receive the healing they came to get and some even passed away. But wait some where healed, fully and completely. The persistence, relentlessness and desire to get back on our feet must be something that is important to God. Well let’s look at a verse and we can bridge into the answer. Grab your bible and we will open up to 1 Corinthians 4:20

1Co 4:20  For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.

The Greek defines the word used as talk, word or speech (depending on what bible version you use) as logos. Logos is defined as your preaching, thoughts or even your motives. Sounds like the Pharisees. This is not the Kingdom of God.

The Greek defines the word used as power as miraculous power, ability, abundance, might and wonderful work. Sounds like Jesus. This is the Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom of God is not about us speaking our minds, what we think about a matter, or our intentions but instead God’s intervention through His miracles, His power and the work of Jesus today. In this present age God is breaking in revealing Himself for His glory.

Now that we have a glimpse at what the Kingdom of God is and isn’t let’s look at the application.  This part is the answer to how we pray or doing the stuff. I think this is important to know because we ought to be the church that left the building like Jesus who was among the people. We are the church. Not a pharisee but like Jesus. Lets pick up that bible again and take look at another verse in the
